17 Useful Things to Know Before Visiting Sequoia National Park in Winter
"It is a paved 2-mile loop hike that begins right by General Sherman Tree. You can see other trees such as “The President” (the 3rd largest tree in the world) and “the House” and “the Senate”, two beautiful dense groves of giant sequoias that are overwhelming in their winter splendor. Similar to General Sherman, the hike is not particularly steep or difficult, but the winter conditions may make it difficult, so prepare with either crampons if icy or snowboots or snowshoes if really snowy."

Guide to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks with kids
"In Kings Canyon, the Grant Grove offers the General Grant Tree, plus a nice, easy hiking loop of additional Sequoias which includes some naturally downed trees. This is a great place for kids to see the root system of these giants, crawl through a fallen Sequoia log, and walk through a Sequoia tunnel!. The Grant Grove Visitors Center is nearby as well, but we found it to be pretty limited."

"A short, paved trail takes you around some incredible sequoias, including the General Grant Tree (the second largest sequoia in the world). I think the widest sequoias are found here. And, if you still need more sequoias (and, without the crowds), go to the end of the overflow parking, where the trail for the North Grove Trail begins."

The trail has a steep decline which winds often and ends at a very large and old sequoia tree as well as many other beautiful sequoias. The climb back is more difficult but there are several substantial benches for you to stop and catch your breath."
